What happened to Our Lady Peace?
I just downloaded their new single and I think it sucks. Now I guess I shouldn't be surprised since I thought their last album was a big step back. It just felt so mainstream compared to their first three albums. Listening to Gravity I couldn't help but notice it sounded more like music from artists like Nickelback or Creed. I guess the biggest problem is I don't like their new guitarist. Their first two albums were so great because they had a unique sound that makes them different from other bands. Quite similar to why I love The Smashing Pumpkins. Oh well, I'll just have to keep listening to Naveed and Clumsy and pretend that their new albums don't exist.

Raine Maida might be the face of OLP, but Mike Turner (guitarist from Naveed - Spiritual Machines, and tracks 1, 4, and 9 on Gravity) was the heart and driving force, in my opinion. Duncan Coutts is a very musical bassist, and Jeremy Taggart is an inventive, intelligent, and talented drummer, but I always felt it was Turner's licks and creativity that gave OLP songs their life more than anything. Steve Mazur (new guitarist), while capable, just seems to fit in with the crowd of rock guitarists, as you said.
Jess, I saw them Live on tv once and I couldn't believe how horrible they sounded. They must have to alter Raine Maida's voice a lot to make the albums sound good. And I wish they had done a greatest hits album instead of that crappy Live cd.
