This song probably has the most meaningful lyrics of any punk song I've ever heard. While most punk songs seem to be filled with bad meanings, this one actually seems to have a decent message and while it doesn't have an answer to the questions it raises, it's still nice seeing a punk song that isn't promoting drugs or ranting about girlfriends. I should probably start working on my movie list after posting this. Anyways, here are the lyrics, and the song title is The Kids Aren't Alright by The Offspring.
When we were young the future was so bright
the whole neighborhood was so alive
and every kid on the whole damn street
was gonna make it big and not be beat.
now the neighborhood's cracked and torn
the kids are grown up but their lives are worn
how can one little street
spoil so many lives
Chances blown
nothing's free
longing for
what used to be
still it's hard
hard to see
fragile lives,
shattered dreams
Jennie had a chance, well she really did
Instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids
Mark still lives at home cause he's got no job
Just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot
Jay commited suicide
Brandon OD'd and died
What the hell is going on?
The cruellest dream, reality
Chances blown
nothing's free
longing for
what used to be
still it's hard
hard to see
fragile lives,
shattered dreams

Interesting song!
It's so true though eh? When we're young we're so..oblivious..
Wouldn't it be nice if there was never sin? And we were all like that? Because we didn't know any better...
I don't think it would work if we knew better lol
i agree with jess...curse words?? hahaha that is so awful!! :O!!
and please tell me where my spelling mistake is in my blog...i am far too tired to find it on my own lol
I didn't "use" those words. I was quoting lyrics. If it had been a misuse of Jesus' name or the f-word, I would've censored it, but those words are just crude. Maybe I'll go back to using Wheel of Time swear words. Flaming blood and bloody ashes!
And the two of you didn't even comment on the song! At least the others focused on the point of my post.
Fine, if you're going to keep making a big issue out of this then I won't drop the whole "procreating" thing that you did. Perv.
